Who are you? What is it that you believe about yourself? Where did this belief come from? Do you truly believe it or did you accept it unconditionally? How do you see yourself? In other words, what is your self-image.
Our self-image of ourself is set up for us as children. You see, until we are about 5-6 years old, everything that we see, hear and experience goes right into our little subconscious minds. Our subconscious mind is where what we believe is, this is where our conditioning lies. This is our feeling, emotional mind and this is what causes our actions. It is why we do what we do, why we think what we think, why we feel like we feel.
Our conscious mind is our thinking rational mind. This thinking is directed by our subconscious mind. Think about this..have you ever experienced the "knowing-doing gap"? We all tend to have this...this is a good sign there are beliefs that are holding you back from what you tell yourself that you want.
Here's a quick example...I would sit in my office chair working and I would think...I should go do the ablounge, ride the Healthrider or the Exercycle, use the Rebounder, lift some weights on the Bo-Flex..at least one of these. My office is in my home...all I had to do was walk a couple rooms over to our fitness room. For some reason, I would get lead in my butt and feet and not move a muscle to go in there. I would rationalize (note that this is {rationing-lies}..making excuses). I would think...I really need to get these emails out, this ad listed, this phone call made...and on and on.
Even though on a conscious level these (technically) were the things I was looking for, I had some beliefs that were stopping me from moving. So I recognized my belief that I was sick of the terms "lose weight, diet, exercise" were setting up a negative feeling and therefore I took no action. Also, I had the belief that I was a chubby kid and much of my family is overweight (compared to them I am "normal" weight). I knew I needed to set up a new belief about these things so I changed my thinking. I recognized that I am not my family, I decided that moving my muscles would create a healthy, well, fit being. That is why I refer to it as "fitness" as opposed to "exercise to lose weight". I changed "lose weight" to "release weight". Bob Proctor pointed out to me one day that our minds are conditioned to look for things we have lost...that is why most people gain it back. You see, it really does make difference that you use in your self-talk. Choose a conversation with yourself that causes you to act on your thoughts.
I will end here today...I still have so much to say about this...it is my passion. I want others to explore their mind and make the connection to the health of our body.
Who are you? Make that list of who you are...and then ask yourself where this belief came from.
Examples:
- I am impatient (this is a self-centered belief, you are not considering others)
- I am a procrastinator (you can change this by deciding to make committed decisions)
- I am a slow learner (is that what someone told you, so now you live into it?)
- I am reluctant trusting other people
- I am from a poor family, so I will never be financially well off (you can make different choices than your family made, and when you are more financially secure, you can help them...perhaps they will make new choices and you can give of your money)
- I am a victim of the world (you are responsible for your life...and only you are)
Really look at whether there is a reason to believe this. No. 1 - Doctors running late...someone he treated was more ill than thought and needed more time, a patient of his in the hospital had an emergency and he needed to see them personally. It is not all about you...think of others. No.6- Did someone steal from you once, twice...now you do not trust anyone? Think of the much higher number of people that did not steal from you...you really can trust people. I hope you get this...it will change your life.
Good day
Brenda
